Let it be written – and reread in the future – Luke is disappointed he doesn’t have school on the weekends. In addition, he told me just today that mornings go by quickly in kindergarten. Seeing how he’s only ½ day, his entire education-to-date has been a thrilling ride of fun and learning.
I do know he still has half a mind at home, however, when I hear certain things from Ms. Johnson. She said he perfectly nailed his Bible verse on day 1: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” But instead of the familiar Genesis, he ended it with, “Jocelyn 1:1.” And today, during snack, he saw someone with a bag of chocolate chips and marveled, “How does your Mom get all those chocolate chips out of your cookies?”
Jocelyn, 3 mornings a week in preschool, already brings home improved understanding of letters, numbers and shapes while finding time to deliver warm hugs to her beloved teachers Mrs. Cantrell and Mrs. Cooper. I confess it's a delight to package up my little 4 year old in a cute dress, matching barrette, and send her in with other preschoolers packaged with the same fluff and brightness.
I’m so grateful for such a school with gifted, godly teachers who love our children and inspire them to want school on the weekends. Here’s to hoping it lasts!
